Etihad Dublin flights set for take off

Final preparations are underway for the launch of Etihad Airways’
latest destination, the Irish capital Dublin. Etihad will operate four flights-a-week from Abu Dhabi to Dublin from 2 July, which will be the eighth European city on the airline’s rapidly expanding global network of flights.

To celebrate the new service, Etihad hosted an Irish-themed reception in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday night which was attended by members of the UAE’s Irish business community and the Irish Ambassador to the UAE, His Excellency Tom Russell.

James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said:

‘This new service between the capital cities of the UAE and Ireland will enhance further the strong business and tourism ties between the two countries. Etihad continues to fulfil its pledge to provide our customers, throughout the world, with services to the most popular commercial and cultural destinations.’

Etihad’s new service will offer a total passenger capacity of 1,600 seats every week, and has experienced considerable demand from business and leisure travellers following its announcement in April.

Trade ties between the UAE and Ireland continue to grow supported by the 3,000-strong Irish community living in the UAE. The UAE also enjoys the status of being Ireland’s second biggest market in the Gulf region after Saudi Arabia.

Mr Russell said: ‘The launch of the new air route will enhance the close ties already shared between the UAE and Ireland. The Irish people look forward to welcoming Etihad to Dublin and experiencing true Arabian hospitality onboard the UAE’s national airline.’

Among the many highlights of the reception at Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace hotel was Irish dance troupe who entertained the 500 guests. Irish music legend Frankie Gavin also performed his world-famous fiddle and flute pieces to the thrilled audience.

Etihad was recently named ‘Middle East’s Leading Airline,’ ‘Middle East’s Leading First Class Airline’ and ‘Middle East’s Leading Airline Website’ at the inaugural regional World Travel Awards,  Middle East & Africa ceremony, that took place at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
