Star Alliance looks set to embrace an Indian airline into its network by the end of the year and a Russian airline in 2008, its CEO Jaan Albrecht told Dow Jones news wire. However, he declined to tell the news wire any of the names of the carriers.

Star Alliance is also looking for a new member from South America, which is an important region for aviation growth, said Albrecht.
