Traffic at Domodedovo climbs in Janaury

According to the results of Domodedovo International Airport activities in January 2007, Domodedovo continues to grow dynamically in terms of passenger traffic. Overall passenger throughput at Domodedovo in January 2007 reached 1,128,000 passengers, a 19.8% increase over the same period of 2006.

The highest growth was recorded to destinations such as Ekaterinburg, Hurghada, Bangkok, London, Tashkent, Utapao, Istanbul, Zurich, St Petersburg, Baku. Domodedovo handled over 252.5 thousand passengers on these routes, a 50% growth over January 2006.

Passenger throughput on international routes in January 2007 reached 679,000 passengers, a 25.4% increase over the same period of 2006. Passenger traffic on domestic routes for the first month of 2007 reached 449,000, a 12.3% rise against the results for the comparable period of 2006.

Domodedovo International Airport is Russia’s largest airport and holds the leading positions among Moscow area airports in terms of passenger traffic. Currently it handles the needs of 73 airlines including 23 international air carriers, 34 Russian airlines and 16 carriers from other CIS countries. Domodedovo continues to gain new airline-partners. Recently it was announced that NIKI is to launch five-weekly service from Vienna to Moscow (DME) from March 30, 2007.
