Ex Expedia boss joins Farecast board

Farecast.com is appointing former Expedia Chief Executive Officer, Erik Blachford to its board of directors.  Erik joins a strong team of travel industry veterans and experienced technology executives including CEO and former NLG and Priceline executive, Hugh Crean, Farecast founder Oren Etzioni, Madrona Venture Group partner Matt McIlwain and Moshe Mor, partner at Greylock Partners.

“Farecast’s unique technology answers one of the toughest questions in travel - when should I buy?’” said Erik Blachford “The team at Farecast is a dynamic group of technologists and travel industry veterans and I welcome the opportunity to work with them as they build great new services for the benefit of travelers everywhere.”

Erik was most recently CEO of IAC/InterActiveCorp’s travel division, including Expedia, Hotels.com, Hotwire, Classic Custom Vacations and Interval International.  Prior to Expedia’s acquisition by IAC, Erik was CEO of Expedia, Inc.  Erik is a graduate of Princeton University and holds a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.  Erik also serves on the board of directors at Zillow Inc., Sharebuilder Corp and Surfparks LLC.
