Qantas will retain its Boeing B737 heavy maintenance operation at its current base in Tullamarine, Melbourne. Qantas Executive General Manager Engineering, David Cox, said the decision, which would involve retaining 460 skilled jobs in Victoria, had been made pending a broader review of the entire Qantas Engineering operation over the next 12 months. Mr Cox said Qantas would make an announcement about the broader engineering review in the next few days.
