Nagoya, Taipei flight for Eva Air

EVA Airways announced Friday that it plans to launch passenger flights from Taipei to Nagoya from July. This is based on a newly revised aviation pact between Taiwan and Japan.

EVA, Taiwan’s second largest air carrier, plans to operate five flights per week from Taipei to Nagoya in central Japan from July, an aviation company spokesman said, adding that EVA will immediately launch necessary preparations after the Civil Aeronautics Administration has completed allocation of flight rights in line with the new Taiwan-Japan aviation accord renewed earlier the same day.

Meanwhile, EVA Air will also increase the number of its flights to Osaka, Sendai and Sapporu—all major destinations in Japan that draw large numbers of Taiwanese tourists every year.

Local travel agency operators are concerned that supply might exceed demand on outbound travel to Japan, as the new aviation pact allows too many carriers to operate an increased number of flights to the same major destinations in Japan.
