CarTrawler.com launches GDS alternative

CarTrawler.com is launching an OTA based reservation system for strategic partners including airline booking sites and IT providers to the travel & transportation industry.
The new OTA XML engine will allow travel websites owned by airlines, travel agencies, and other travel industry content providers access to an unrivalled car rental inventory across every major car rental company in the world. Over 6,000 locations and 350 suppliers are included in this new reservation system, which is built entirely on open systems (Linux and Java).

At the launch in Dublin, Bobby Healy, CTO of CarTrawler.com said “The car hire industry is plagued by legacy technology which has been a major barrier for companies. These traditional GDSs such as Sabre and Amadeus have failed to provide modern technology to address the needs of the largest booking engines.”

“CarTrawler.com bypasses legacy GDS technology ensuring that large airlines and travel agencies have a cost effective, technically superior means to package a car rental product for their customers, while improving margins and providing a better customer service.  Consumers are finished with part pricing (Time & Mileage), which the old GDS used and CarTrawler.com’s GDS supplies the end user with fully inclusive rates.”

“Customers will shop around to make sure they get the best price unless the company provide access to all their options for car rental in one place - their own website.” added Greg Turley CEO of CarTrawler.com.
