Denis gets GM of the Year

Serge Denis, MD of the Langham Hotel, Boston has been named General Manager of the Year at the recent Massachusetts Lodging Association 2005 Stars of the Industry Gala. Denis won in the category of large properties of more than 300 rooms and the nomination is a first for the 40-year hospitality veteran.

This prestigious award “honours a general manager who has demonstrated professionalism in operating a lodging property and taken a leadership role in the industry by actively participating in association, community or industry programmes.”

Serge Denis was humbled and surprised. He did not learn of his nomination until 5.30pm on the day of the Gala.  The win comes as no surprise to Mr Denis’ team, who held clandestine meetings to write the nomination together. “Serge Denis inspires everyone with whom he works,” according to Stephanie Mehail, Hotel Manager.  “I know I speak for everyone at the Langham Hotel Boston when I say Serge Denis is what makes our property feel special and important.  Every employee is eager to please him.  To the employees, he is an inspiration.  To our guests, he is the soul of the hotel.”

Mr Denis, who celebrated a dozen years at the property in 2005, overseas the 325-room luxury hotel, which is a member of Leading Hotels of the World and has two award-winning restaurants.
