Madeira’s largest spa set to open

The Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Gardens, part of the newly formed Quintas da Madeira collection, is set to open June 2006.

The new Wellness area at the Quinta Splendida comprises 1400 sq.meters and is due to open June 2006.

The spa facility will feature a vitality pool and a 12m x 7m indoor pool next to an in-door waterfall feature surrounded by orchids. Also on offer are 10 treatment rooms including a couple’s massage room for simultaneous treatment, a cardiovascular fitness room, a sauna, an ice fountain in combination with a separate cold water bath and a footbath. In addition to the traditional sauna, a Turkish Steam Bath and a Mud Bath will be available.

The Quinta Splendida Wellness area will be the largest in Madeira and will introduce guests to the pleasures of total relaxation and rejuvenation. Treatment menus will feature indigenous treatments, invigorating massages and many other restorative treatments. Nutritional advice and a Wellness bar will also be available to complement the Wellness life experience.

The product range that will be used for treatments in the spa has not yet been revealed. It has been confirmed that the chosen range will be of a holistic nature and new to Madeira. The interior design of the Wellness area will feature understated Asian themes. This theme is continued further into one of the restaurants, The Galeria, where Asian fusion cuisine will be available. Specially prepared wellbeing cuisine will be on offer throughout the resort.

Quinta Splendida Wellness offers 25 large modern suites all of which are equipped with a private terrace, luxurious private facilities, a large plasma screen television, a PC for personal use and internet access. Guests are free to explore the 30,000 sq m of botanical gardens surrounding the Wellness area and to make use of the outdoor pool. The botanical gardens are home to over 1000 species of tropical flowers and plants, 650 of which are registered species. Clients may take advantage of complimentary weekly activities, such as Madeira Wine tasting and guided Botanical Garden tours.

The properties in the Quintas da Madeira collection range from modern, contemporary design hotels to centuries-old, country house style properties.
