Worldspan, Net Trans team up
Worldspan has signed a new technology marketing agreement with Net Trans Services AS of Tonsberg, Norway.Through the agreement, Worldspan travel agency subscribers worldwide are offered access to Net Trans Active Commission, an end-to-end hotel commission tracking, reconciliation and payment service with the power to increase hotel commission revenues by up to 20 percent, and cut average commission reconciliation time from 90 - 180 days down to 30 - 90 days.
The Active Commission service is available immediately with a special introductory offer enabling travel agencies to use the service at no charge from now until June 2006.
“We are delighted to offer the benefits of Active Commission to Worldspan agencies of all sizes worldwide. Active Commission is the only automated commission service available and this agreement reflects the success and advancements we at Net Trans have made in improving the complexity of handling all aspects of hotel commission processing,” said Trond Sorensen, chief operating officer for Net Trans Services. “We are looking forward to working with Worldspan and helping its agency customers prosper.”
“Worldspan and Net Trans are presenting agencies with a very successful revenue-generating tool that frees agents of time-consuming commission tracking processes so they can focus on higher service levels and new sales,” said Kathy Fitzpatrick, Worldspan vice president - Hospitality and Destination Services.
“Agencies using Active Commission benefit in several ways, including faster receipt of commission payments, reduced transaction charges from banks, improved efficiency on hotel payment procedures, and lower administration and accounting costs—all of which improve agency profitability through increased revenue and reduced costs.”

Commissions are processed for both IATA- and TID-approved locations, and no additional software or hardware is required for participating travel agencies.
Once an agency establishes an Active Commission account with Net Trans, Worldspan will provide hotel booking information from PNRs through a special interface routing to the Active Commission system for tracking and reconciliation. This will happen automatically and requires no effort on the part of the travel agency.
Travel agencies that sign up for the Active Commission service receive numerous benefits. Hotel reservations booked worldwide via Worldspan, including itinerary changes, are collected by Active Commission and processed early in the month following hotel checkout dates.
Once commissions are collected, the agency receives consolidated payments through a bank transfer deposited by Net Trans into the agency’s designated bank account, in the agency’s currency of choice.
Agencies are able to check commission tracking status in real time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through a password-protected Web site. Consolidated, accurate and reliable reports and related financial information keep agencies informed so they can focus on greater revenue opportunities.
