GetThere Enhances Multi-GDS Booking Capability
GetThere can now absorb traveller profile information from the Amadeus global distribution system (GDS). Traveller information such as seat preferences, meal requirements and frequent flier numbers can now be exchanged freely between both systems.
GetThere is a multi-GDS self-booking tool. Bookings made using GetThere are fulfilled by a corporation’s travel management company (TMC), irrespective of which GDS the agency uses. Until now, however, traveller profile information managed by any TMC using Amadeus has had to be loaded into the GetThere system manually.
Floyd Widener, vice president of GetThere and corporate travel at Sabre Travel Network, said TMCs were increasingly recommending SBTs to their corporate customers as a way of reducing travel management costs and driving down the volume of calls to their own call centres.
“We believe this new traveller profile capability, along with the ability to book European rail travel using GetThere, will further increase the popularity of the system among European TMCs and the rate at which they recommend it to their corporate clients,” Widener said.
