Orient-Express Appoints New CFO

Orient-Express
Hotels
announces the appointment of
Paul M. White as Vice President - Finance and Chief Financial Officer of the
company. He will replace James G. Struthers who has held the position since
April 2000.Mr James B. Sherwood, Chairman, said “I thank James Struthers on behalf
of the board and the shareholders for his tremendous work over the last five
years. During this period the company has been transformed by a steady stream
of acquisitions in which he was deeply involved, including our investment in
the Grand Hotel Europe, St Petersburg, earlier this year. We will be sad to
lose him and we wish him well for the future.” Struthers will be joining a
private equity group based in California.
Simon Sherwood, President, said “I congratulate Paul White on his new
role. It is a natural transition for Paul who was Financial Controller for
Orient-Express Hotels for 7 years prior to spending the last few years
gaining hands-on operating experience in his current role as Vice President -
Hotels, Africa, Australia and South America. The combination of his financial
background, his in-depth knowledge of our company and his line experience
both as a hotel manager and Vice President make him an ideal candidate for
the role.”
Mr Sherwood added “James Struthers and Paul White plan a thirty day
transfer period to ensure a smooth hand-over, so Paul White will formally
take over the position of Chief Financial Officer in mid-October.”
Paul M. White (ACMA) started his hotel career in the UK with Forte. He
joined Orient-Express Hotels in 1991 and was the company’s Financial
Controller for seven years before becoming Director of Operations, Hotels,
Africa, Australia & South America. He was appointed Vice President of the
region in May 2000. Paul is 41 years old and lives in London with his wife
and two sons.
