Skyscanner Hits Record Figures

New figures released today show the most popular flight destinations during August as travellers made the most of the final Bank Holiday of the year. www.skyscanner.net registered a record three quarters of a million visits last month as holidaymakers used its services to plan their last long weekend of the summer.
While London occupied the number one position with 11.1% of searches, suggesting that the capital is still attracting visitors even at times of heightened security, Spanish destinations accounted for four of the top five most searched budget flights during last month. In second position, Malaga was top of the Spanish destinations with 7.5% of searches, followed by Alicante (6.4%), Palma (6%) and Barcelona (3.9%) proving that Spain is still high on traveller’s wish lists for guaranteed Bank Holiday sunshine.

www.skyscanner.net now attracts over 500,000 unique users every month. Currently searching 62 budget airlines which serve Europe, SkyScanner gathers details direct from the airlines, showing who is flying where, when and for how much.

Following the highly successful launch of its Australasian site and the French, German and Spanish language versions earlier this summer, SkyScanner’s new functionality, to be launched later this year, will provide travellers worldwide with an impartial one-stop service for the cheapest international flights.
