A handful of people are thought to have survived a plane crash in the Peruvian jungle in which at least 40 other passengers died. Twenty injured people have been rescued from the plane’s wreckage in the northeast of the country.Ê

The plane was on a domestic flight when it was forced to make an emergency landing after flying into a severe storm. State-run airline TANS said 100 people were on board its Boeing 737-200 plane.
