Bonaire Offers Tourists Some Autumn Activites

Bonaire is shaping up to offer tourists a feast of activities over the autumn period. From October 9-15 the isalnd will play host to the 38th Annual Bonaire International Sailing Regatta, Bonaire’s largest sailing race, and one of the year’s most anticipated events. Then in November comes the 5th Annual Bonaire Eco-Swim. When many of us in the UK will be celebarting Bonfire Night - islanders will be participating in a one-day event which will include a 10k Swim along the coastline of Bonaire and the Deep Blue 5k swim from the coast of Bonaire to Klein Bonaire and back round fixed buoys.For the sailing regatta the Island is expecting to welcome more than 120 boats in 12 different categories from catamarans and yachts to windsurfers and sunfish. Sailors from all of the surrounding islands as well as Venezuela, Holland and the U.S. are expected. A Bonairean tradition, Regatta highlights will include nightly parties, the All Nations Parade, the Working Boats Parade, the awards ceremony and of course the races.

This year Bonaire will host the 5th Annual Bonaire Eco-Swim on Saturday November 5th. Other races include The Metric Mile, a swim from just off Klein Bonaire to the coast of Bonaire and the Fun Swim, which will be approximately 200 meters along the coast of the Island.

The races will take place in the morning with an awards ceremony that afternoon. The entry fee for the Deep Blue 10k, 5k and Metric Mile is US$75 per swimmer per event and includes welcome dinner, t-shirt and swim cap.
