Kor to Manage the Jefferson

Kor Hotel Group, the Los Angeles-based luxury hotel operator, brings its management finesse to Washington D.C. Known for its progressive and refined design sensibility combined with dedicated attention to personalized service, Kor Hotel Group assumed management of The Jefferson, the AAA Four-Diamond, 100-room landmark hotel in central Washington, on June 15 and will play an integral part in the property’s redesign over the coming year.
“We are honored to have been selected to manage such a distinguished hotel as The Jefferson,” said John Arnett, President of Kor Hotel Group. “We look forward to developing a presence in Washington and to the future opportunities this new frontier may bring.”
Located at 1200 16th Street, NW, just four blocks from the White House, The Jefferson maintains an air of timeless grandeur while addressing 21st-century needs. The boutique hotel’s 100 guestrooms, including 32 suites, are each meticulously appointed with a selection of canopy beds, armoires and wood-burning fireplaces, and boast monumental views of the capital city.
The Jefferson’s resplendent lobby, Grand Foyer and original “power lunch” restaurant, The Jefferson, conspire to display a colonial American art collection to rival that of the White House. A significant cache of original, signed Thomas Jefferson documents similarly adorn the public spaces and lend the hotel its name, while eighteenth-century drawings of satirical political caricatures provide additional historic insight.
With its prime location at the epicenter of Washington’s political energy, The Jefferson proves an ideal base for the working traveler. In-room facilities include two-line phones, voicemail, speaker-phone, fax machines and high-speed Internet access to ensure business is executed efficiently. For meetings, the hotel’s 2,500 square feet of private function space, divided across five rooms, features Federal-style antique furnishings, intricate millwork and Oriental carpets, lending each event a private estate quality.
The hotel’s restaurant and lounge serve superb New American cuisine in an intimate yet stately environment. Additional on-site hotel services include a fitness room; concierge; laundry service; limousine and business services; and 24-hour room service.
Originally constructed in 1923 as private apartments for Washington society, this Beaux-Arts-inspired building opened as a hotel in 1955. Quiet and elegant, it is located within easy access of every major attraction. Two hundred years of history awaits guests at The Jefferson’s doorstep: Both within its walls and without.
