JAMEX Deemed a Success

Meeting planners from North America and the United Kingdom who traveled to Jamaica for the sixth annual Jamaica Meetings
Exchange (JAMEX) from June 11-15, which was co-sponsored by the Jamaica Tourist Board and VNU Publications, were more than satisfied with their trip. This year, Half Moon Montego Bay hosted the event, providing each guest with the complete Jamaican experience.
Through its educational sessions, special events and a trade show, JAMEX 2005 offered meeting planners and suppliers opportunities to meet individually and discuss potential meetings and available offerings. Special workshops were held throughout the five-day period to facilitate better relationships and understanding of the meetings industry.

“Each year JAMEX gives us the opportunity to creatively showcase Jamaica to meeting planners from around the world,” said Marcia Bullock, Regional Director - Groups & Conventions, Jamaica Tourist Board.

landscape and activities. Unlike previous years, we brought internationally renowned speakers to JAMEX to explore topical issues, interests and trends within the meetings industry. And for the first time,

A new aspect of JAMEX was the presentation by International Special Events Society (ISES), who updated meeting planners on current trends in the special events industry. Speaker topics included Internet marketing, entertainment and table décor.

The Jamaica Tourist Board gave a comprehensive update on the destination and its offerings to the meetings community.  Ms. Bullock spoke about the island’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, key tourism regions, major attractions and the large presence of on-island destination management companies that are available to meeting planners.
