Comtec Acquires Travelink
Comtec has acquired Travelink Systems, for an undisclosed sum. The move will see Comtec integrating Travelink’s technology for distribution onto its leisure travel agency customer base.
Comtec’s management believes that the integration of the two South Wales based companies will create considerable synergies. Chief Executive, Simon Powell, commented, “This is a natural fit for two businesses with complementary products, technologies, customers and localities. This deal will considerably enhance Comtec’s product offering and will offer Travelink’s tour operator customers streamlined access to Comtec’s customer base - the largest leisure travel distribution network in the U.K”. Commenting on Comtec’s plans within Tour Operating, Powell said “Travelink is a well-known brand and has a strong, experienced team behind it. We intend to develop Travelink and push even harder into the Tour Operator market. Comtec’s marketing strength will be very useful to Travelink”.
The acquisition will strengthen Comtec’s market-leadership position in the leisure travel technology sector with Travelink supplying reservation and inventory management systems to over 60 tour operator and travel wholesaler customers. The move will also result in Comtec expanding its business with customers it previously shared Travelink, including Thomas Cook and First Choice.
For new and existing employees, Comtec have stated “its business as usual” Travelink’s Managing Director, Ceri Jones, indicated that his team already have well established relationships with Comtec, and added “This is a positive step for Travelink. The organisations’ technologies have already been successfully integrated with Comtec’s flight engine implemented earlier this year to power Published, Low-Cost, Charter, Consolidator and Net fare based flight services for Travelink.
Comtec plans to market Travelink developed technology to travel agents under its established EasySell and WebSell brands.
