IHG Opening Third in Guatemala City

InterContinental Hotels Group Latin America announces the grand opening of the 12 story, 184-room Crowne Plaza Guatemala. The hotel marks IHG’s third hotel and third brand in Guatemala City, Guatemala, which also has an InterContinental hotel, and a Holiday Inn hotel. It is also the 21st Crowne Plaza hotel in Latin America and the third Crowne Plaza hotel in Guatemala. The property is situated in one of the most beautiful residential areas of Guatemala City. The hotel is within walking distance of “Old Guatemala” (established 450 years ago), and is also close to a golf course, the International Airport, National Museum of Anthropology and History, shopping malls, art galleries, theatres, financial and business districts as well as some of the best restaurants in the city.

All rooms are beautifully decorated and have picturesque views of the mountain terrain. The hotel also features a “Sport Book Bar”, which offers a variety of exotic beverages and numerous TVs to watch worldwide sports; and two restaurants that offer guests the opportunity to enjoy international delicacies. In addition, the hotel has eight junior suites, a Presidential Suite, a Business Center, a fully-equipped fitness center, shops, a Spa club with a sauna, jacuzzi and swimming pool. All 184 guestrooms have wireless Internet access and dual-line telephones with voice mail.

“For business travelers who want to enjoy luxury, comfort, and service of a Crowne Plaza, can now do so in Guatemala,” says Armando Jimenez, General Manager of the property. “Our hotel offers guests with a complete package and unforgettable hotel-stay experience—for those travelers who are with us for business, they will feel as though they are also here for pleasure.”

“We are very proud to be opening another Crowne Plaza in Central America. It represents our firm commitment to diversifying and expanding our brand portfolio, within the region,” says Alvaro Diago, Area President of InterContinental Hotels Group, Latin America.

“Furthermore we continue to enforce IHG’s position as the leader in hospitality, by identifying with each of our brand’s unique amenities, opening more hotels, offering a variety of brands in central locations, while providing more attractive accomodations within our hotels so we can always meet the needs of both business and leisure travelers. Eventually, we want to make all of our brands available throughout key cities in the Latin American region,” concludes Diago.
