Delta.com Offers Enhancements

Delta Air Lines customers using delta.com now have even more control over their travel experience thanks to online enhancements that include the ability to change tickets, calculate the miles needed to redeem award travel and check in for connecting flights operated by certain airlines. Future enhancements will speed site navigation and award travel booking while making the site even more inviting for Delta’s customers.
“As we transform to become more customer focused, we’re listening to our business and leisure customers and giving them what they want -  the online power to take charge of their travel experience and save valuable time,” said Pam Elledge, Delta’s vice president of Sales & Distribution. “We’re committed to making delta.com the fastest and easiest way for customers to do business with us, and these are just the first of many enhancements that customers can expect this summer. By 2007, our goal is for 45 percent of all ticket sales to take place on delta.com and flysong.com.” The new online enhancements include making customers’ travel experience easier are:

      ?  Online ticket changes - Delta and Song customers using delta.com and flysong.com can quickly make changes to existing U.S. domestic reservations by adding or changing flights, choosing alternate dates, times or cities; and paying change fees with a credit card or electronic credit. Electronic credit, or e-credit, is value remaining from unused ticket(s).

  ?  SkyMiles mileage calculator - SkyMiles members can easily find the mileage required for an award ticket between their chosen origin and destination on delta.com. Detailed results include miles required, cabin, operating airline, award codes and rules/restrictions.

?  Other airline check-in - In addition to checking in for Delta’s U.S. domestic flights, delta.com customers can now save time and check in for flight segments when their Delta flights connect to Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Northwest Airlines and US Airways.

These enhancements materialized from customer requests for self-service tools to handle simple ticketing and other travel-related transactions themselves. By making these types of online tools available, Delta’s Reservations Sales and Airport Customer Service professionals are more accessible to customers with more complicated transactions.
Ê
At delta.com and flysong.com, customers can also search for flights and purchase Delta and Song’s lowest fares without ticketing fees, redeem SkyMiles tickets, view their itineraries, check in for flights, select their seats, print boarding passes and much more.
Ê
These online enhancements are part of Delta’s transformation plan, which includes initiatives intended to add value to its customers’ travel experience while making it easier to do business with Delta. Other transformation plan initiatives that have been implemented to date include:

?  Introducing SimpliFares(tm) nationwide, offering simple and more affordable fares;
      ?    Simplifying the SkyMiles Medallion® program;      ?  Reducing most special service fees to $50;
      ?  Providing more self-service technology at delta.com and at the airport;
      ?  Implementing a cabin interior improvement program with better lighting and all-leather seating;
      ?  Expanding its snack service on more flights; and
      ?  Making the flight network - especially in Atlanta, the world’s largest hub - more efficient and convenient for customers. Customers can also visit delta.com to learn about hot new summer sale fares to destinations all across the country.
