Rally: Barbados Style

There is nothing like the thrill of a rally. Crazed, yet immensely focused and skilled drivers zip round death defying courses in a need for speed. However this thrill can only be increased when the rally is called Rally Carnival and is hosted on the Caribbean island of Barbados.

“Rally Carnival is fabulous - after enjoying the RallySprint at Vaucluse International Raceway and the main Rally Barbados on the weekend of May 28th and 29th we will spread the word about this exhilarating event on our return home.”

Graeme Goodfellow, winner of a competition in leading UK motor sport magazine Autosport to win a 15-day trip to the 2005 Barbados Rally Carnival spoke of this event while chilling out in his poolside villa generously provided by Europa, part of Intimate Hotels.

The competition was set by prestigious Barbados travel and Marketing Specialists, Alpheus Leisure UK, official spectator travel specialists for the Rally Carnival to promote this unique event to the UK market.

The Rally Carnival is a yearly event and is attended by 30 European Drivers and is set around several fun events. This year was particularly eventful as the 1994 World Rally Champion Didier Auriol was the guest of honor over the weekend of this premier event.

Over the five years of the Rally Carnival, more than 150 overseas drivers have come to Barbados, bringing with them many thousands of supporters , but never before a former World Rally Champion.

Marketing Director of Alpheus Leisure UK, Sarah Rickwood commented;

“The rally here in Barbados is different to that of other Rally’s around the world as its about having a truly good time and fitting as much partying , socialising and motor sport enjoyment into fourteen days of rally sprinting stage - ralling, cruising, beach parties, dinners. and being close to the rally drivers.”

“Competitors and Spectators come to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere that good motorsport brings and be part of this unique experience response to our spectator travel packages has been most encouraging, and things are already looking positive for Barbados Rally Carnival 2006!”
