Nesbit Plantation Nevis Appointed New GM’s

The husband and wife team of Beverly and Walter Plachta have been appointed to the position of General Manager for Nisbet Plantation in Nevis. Bev and Wally are seasoned professionals with over 20 years experience in all phases of hospitality from consulting to Island Management.“I am extremely pleased that Wally & Bev are joining the Nisbet team,” announced David Dodwell, owner of Nisbet and The Reefs in Bermuda - both award-winning hotels. “Their proven expertise in managing small, upscale resorts and achieving exceptionally high customer and staff satisfaction will be welcome news to our guests.”

Bev & Wally have successfully managed Pine Cay in The Turks and Caicos Islands, with 37 private homes and The Meridian Club. They also managed Guana Island in the British Virgin Islands, an 850-acre private island nature preserve with 15 guestrooms and a private home. In the US, Bev and Wally managed The Inn at Montchanin Village in Montchanin, Delaware and The Pollard in Red Lodge Montana.

“We were attracted to Nisbet Plantation by its reputation as one of the best resorts in the Caribbean,” quipped Bev Plachta. “The resort is receiving a major upgrade and exciting changes include a new fitness centre and hot tub on the beach. It is a truly exciting time to be here.”

Bev has a Master of Professional Studies from Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration. Wally is a doctoral candidate from Cornell’s College of Agriculture with a M.S. in Floriculture & Ornamental Horticulture from Cornell and B.S. in Horticulture from the University of Maryland. He is looking forward to showing off his creative flair on the 30-acre resort.
