The World Travel & Tourism Council gave its 2005 Tourism for Tomorrow Award for global tourism business to the Casuarina Beach Club in Barbados. It is one of four properties cited by the business group as a model for sustainable tourism.
Judges cited the resort for “one of the most advanced environmental hotel management systems in the world.”

For example, Casuarina has water- and energy-saving devices throughout its 10-acre property and guests are educated in sustainable tourism.
