Sol Melia announce renovation plans across DR properties

By Ben KilbeyManfred Schobal, chief director of the Tropical Caribbean Melia (part of the Sol Melia Hotel chain) indicated at the Annual Dominican Republic Tourism Exchange (DATE) that the property will be constructing 144 new Royal Services Suites pencilled for completion in June of this year. He also gave details of an agreement reached with Warner Brothers to implement in certain areas of the property ‘Flinstone’ (the famous cartoon family) style décor and entertainment in order to reinforce the family market at the property. This concept will also be laid out at the Paradisus Punta Cana.

Speaking on behalf of the Paradisus Punta Cana, Francisco Castillo the properties general director expressed that the luxurious property is undergoing “a series of renovations”. This include transformation of restaurants and an improvement in services.

Catillo also indicated that by next August a private swimming pool for the Real Service will be constructed. The total renovation of the Deluxe Junior Suites will be complete by 2005.

Castillo said of the property;

“we have constructed a new theme park for kids and adults and an ecological stroll with exotic animals. Paradisus Punta Cana is the perfect place to celebrate social and corporative activities - it has ample facilities and modern technology.”

Paradisus Punta Cana comprises of 500 spacious suites, 35 bungalows, 319 deluxe suites, 80 deluxe suites with Jacuzzi and a variety of other lodgings with the top end being the Garden Villa. It also has six bars, a 372 square metre spa, 10 restaurants and a 27-hole world class championship golf course designed by Jose Pepe Gancedo.
