Hong Kong’s Hip JIA Opens Asian Bistro

JIA Boutique Hotel has opened Y’s, one of two brand new food and beverage concepts to open at the Philippe Starck-designed boutique hotel in Hong Kong. The new Asian Bistro in the heart of Causeway Bay offers a hip, contemporary interior in which to enjoy innovative dining. Y’s will be followed next month by the opening of the hotel’s chic signature restaurant and lounge, OPIA.Y’s menu features Asian and Mediterranean home-style dishes created with Asian contemporary flair and using only the freshest of ingredients. The menu is conceptualised and developed by award-winning Melbourne-based chef Teague Ezard of ezard at adelphi. JIA’s executive chef Dane Clouston and sous chef Matthew Lawdorn prepare the dishes fresh in the large open kitchen.Ê

Named after the hotel’s owner, Ms Yenn Wong, Y’s interior of mint green and earth tones is as fresh on the eye as its dishes are on the palate. The cosy contemporary interior features cool grey wall-mounted lettering that spells out in word form some of the large open kitchen’s concepts and the ingredients used - words such as ‘vibrant’, ‘organic’, ‘spice’, ‘turmeric’ and ‘coriander’.

Designed by one of Hong Kong’s most innovative young interior architects, André Fu of Hong Kong and London-based architectural firm AFSO, Y’s interior is a 21st-century take on 1960s Hong Kong cafés.
