Jamaica keeps going from strength to strength

Jamaica’s popularity continues to go from strength to strength with January UK visitor numbers increasing by nearly seven per cent year on year, according to latest figures from The Jamaica Tourist Board.Ê

ÊJamaica Tourist Board’s Regional Director of UK/Europe, Elizabeth Fox said:

“We are delighted with this positive start to 2005. The European market in general continues to perform well, recording an overall increase of 11 per cent for January and we anticipate further increases as the season unfolds. Events such as the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival and Caribbean Marketplace have been a great boost for Jamaica, with many of the country’s hotels running at full capacity.ÊEarly figures are also indicating that we have had a strong Easter.

“This is also the year of the Jamaica Tourist Board’s 50th Anniversary and we have a wide range of celebratory activity planned, including UK and European roadshows, a travel trade incentive, a web-based education programme for agents; a cd-rom aimed at the meetings, incentive and conference market (MICE) plus a number of initiatives aimed at the consumer.ÊAll of which should help raise further awareness and boost visitor numbers” concludes Fox.
