Jamaica brings spice to Bloomingdale’s

The sweet aroma usually reserved for the confines of the Caribbean filled the air at Bloomingdale’s in White Plains on March 10, for the store’s HOT Culinary Event sponsored by the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB). Caribbean Spice, located in midtown Manhattan, was represented by Chefs Paul and Damian Brown, who created a decadent assortment of signature Jamaican dishes for the department store’s customers including plantains, ackee and saltfish, bammie and Jamaican jerk specialties.“For all of us at Caribbean Spice, the ultimate joy is sharing the exotic flavors of the islands, creating a perfect dining experience and a happy, satisfied diner,” says Caribbean Spice Chef and Co-owner Paul Brown.

Caribbean Spice, formerly known as Island Spice, has been rejuvenated into a warm, intimate eatery, offering home-cooked Caribbean fare.

“We are thrilled to support Mr. Brown’s establishment and culinary talents, which so warmly and brilliantly represent the culinary splendors of Jamaica,” remarked Deputy Director of Tourism and Marketing, David L. Shields.

The Bloomingdale’s White Plains HOT promotion featured a sweepstakes trip giveaway to Jamaica, courtesy of the JTB, Air Jamaica and the luxurious Strawberry Hill resort in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. Customers at Bloomingdale’s in White Plains were able to register to win the trip for two to Jamaica from March 10 through March 20.
