St. Lucia not perturbed by suspension of Air Jam flights

By Ben KilbeyIn response to the recent news that Air Jamaica will be suspending flights to the Eastern Caribbean until April 16, St. Lucia has made it clear that this will no disrupt business to the island. US Airways are adding a weekly Saturday flight to St. Lucia from Charlotte, N.C.

US already runs a twice-weekly flight out of Philadelphia.

Delta has confirmed the fact that it will be increasing its stock from two to five flights weekly from Atlanta. This is scheduled to commence April 1.

St. Lucia’s director of tourism, Peter Hilary Modeste, has indicated that there are talks with Continental to begin airlift to the island.

Currently American offers a daily service to St. Lucia.

Before the suspension of flights Air Jamaica was serving St. Lucia 12 times per week, with a 50/50 split in flight from NYC and Montego Bay.
