Holiday Express the company behind www.holiday.co.uk is celebrating today after coming top in the spring 2005 edition of Holiday Which’s Web Site Review, alongside industry giants Thomas Cook and Thomsons. The criteria for the ‘Top Site’ Award was simply which site was best for booking pre-packaged holidays with holiday.co.uk securing the comment: “This is a good place to visit if you’re looking to search all the major tour operators. The design and lay-out is better than on similar sites. It specialises in pre-packaged holidays but is independent of the tour operators.”
Holiday Which graded companies such as Bargain Holidays, Expedia, My Travel and Virgin Holidays asÊ ‘Worth a Go’, with online travel luminaries such as lastminute and Opodo scoring a disappointing ‘Not the Ticket’ grading.
Holiday Express is expected to turnover £30million on package holidays this year via its 5 main holiday sites and 50+ affiliate sites.Ê In addition to the fulfilment of its’ own sites, Holiday Express actually fulfils the package holiday sales for Expedia, lastminute and Opodo.
Managing Director, David Powell says of the endorsement: “Being placed in the ‘Our Top Sites’ by Holiday Which alongside Thomas Cook and Thomsons is a tremendous achievement. We are a private company, employing some 50 staff at our Cwmbran and Cardiff Reservation Centres, whereas Thomas Cook and Thomsons are multinational companies with massive resources.” He continues: “Using our extensive experience in retail travel sales what we have created at holiday.co.uk is a retail travel agency on the net. holiday.co.uk is totally independent we can therefore offer holidays from all major operators on one site enabling clients to compare operators prices, rather just be presented with one choice”.
David Powell concludes; “The site still offers customers the discounts which are also available on the High Street; they have the choice to book fully online or find their holiday and call one of our experienced travel consultants to complete the reservation. Thereby giving them complete autonomy in their holiday booking process”
