Half Moon announces three year sponsorship deal with Lashings CC

Managing Director of Half Moon Richard Whitfield has announced a three-year sponsorship deal with popular UK cricket club Lashings CC.“Our partnership with the Lashings Cricket Club is rather opportune given the 2007 World Cup of Cricket,” said Richard Whitfield.Ê “The eyes of the sporting world will turn to the West Indies over the next two years and this association between Half Moon and some of the world’s greatest cricketers will certainly enhance our profile in the Commonwealth of nations.”

Comprised of a “dream team” of world cricket greats that play packed-to-capacity exhibition matches across the UK, the 2005 team will include Sir Viv Richards as captain, Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa, Greg Blewett of Australia, VVS Laxman of Indian, Chris Cairns, Hamish Marshall and Chris Harris of New Zealand, Jimmy Adams and Courtney Walsh of the West Indies team, Phil Tufnell of England as well as Shahid Afridi and Rashid Latif of Pakistan.

According to club chairman and founder David Folb, Lashings is like the “Harlem Globetrotters” of cricket.Ê “We attract some of the world’s best test players who want to relax and enjoy a friendly game of cricket whether on break from a tour or after they’ve hung up their pads from international cricket.Ê It’s great for our opponents, because they get an opportunity to play against some of their cricket heroes,” Folb said.
