December was a good month for the Dominican Republic following the opening of two new AMResorts®, Sunscape® The Beach Punta Cana on December 1, 2004 and Sunscape® Puerto Aventuras Riviera Maya on December 15, 2004. Sunscape® Puerto Aventuras Riviera Maya opened on December 15, 2004. In order to bring the resort up to the standards that are associated with the Sunscape® Resorts & Spas brand, the property closed in September and completed an extensive renovation program, valued at more than US $4 million.

The resort was completely re-conceptualized, with a new swimming pool with swim up pool bar, total remodeling of all rooms, additional restaurants and bars, sports, entertainment and activities venues, a spa and fitness center and much more. Additionally, a wedding gazebo, a completed renovated spa and fitness center and Sunscape’s signature kid’s Explorer’s Club will be completed in Spring 2005.
