Starwood Statement Following Tidal Waves
Following the recent tidal waves that struck South and Southeast Asia, Starwood Hotels & Resorts reports that its Sheraton hotels in Phuket, Krabi and Langkawi experienced no structural damages. The hotels have mobilized their resources to complete the clean up and repair process at some of their beachfront facilities and are operating close to normal.The priority for the Sheraton hotels is the well-being of guests and employees. The resorts are assisting with guests’ needs in these locations and Starwood associates are also organizing a fund-raising drive to help associates who have suffered losses in these areas.
Current situation on the resorts is as follows:
Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, Thailand
Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket is in operation, except for two of its beachfront restaurants, one of which is expected to re-open by 31st December. The beach at the resort reopened on 28th December for guest use. Phuket International airport is operating as normal.
Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, Thailand
Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort has all its facilities in full and normal operation, including the beach at the resort. Krabi International airport is also operating as normal.
Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort, Malaysia
Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort is in operation, except for one out of its six restaurants, which is closed for renovation. Clean up process at the Langkawi beach is complete and beachfront conditions is back to normal.
