‘Sweet Delights Take Flight’ to Honor U.S. Veterans

To honor and recognize the men and women of the U.S. military and the sacrifices they’ve made, members of America West Airline’s “Do Crew” employee volunteer corps will be visiting the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix and the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital in Las Vegas the week of Veterans Day. To mark a special observance of the date, Do Crew members will be distributing unique gifts made by another Tempe-based business—Cookies From Home.
America West employees will personally deliver the delicious cookies in specially made messaged boxes to veterans at both hospital locations on Wednesday, Nov. 10. “Many of our own employees are veterans or currently serving in the armed forces, and acknowledging what they and their fellow servicemen and servicewomen have done for our country is an important part of our mission to give back to the communities we serve,” said C.A. Howlett, senior vice president, public affairs. “While we commend the service of our military personnel year-round, we’re particularly honored to express our gratitude as our country observes Veterans Day.”

The Do Crew began in Phoenix in 1997 with a group of employees who wanted to give back to their community and have fun at the same time. That simple purpose has stood the test of time and today nearly 2,000 America West employees in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Reno are Do Crew members.

Do Crew members and their families volunteer with non-profit organizations in the arts and culture, health and human services, education, and civic sectors. Do Crew members are proud to say they “do” get involved, “do” have a lot of fun and “do” make new friends at America West and in the communities they serve.

Award-winning Cookies From Home is a multi-million dollar gift company delivering delicious and tasteful cookie gifts nationwide for both individuals and the corporate market.
