AirTran and the NPA Sign Agreement
AirTran Airways, a
subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. announced today that the airline has
signed a letter of agreement, after two days of negotiations, with the
National Pilots Association (NPA) that approves the operation of ATA
flights in support of AirTran Airways during the transition period. “This short-term use of ATA’s aircraft will allow for a seamless
transition of operations between the two airlines to the benefit of our
customers. ATA’s flights during the transition period are just one of
several mutually beneficial code share and marketing agreements between
the two airlines,” said Joe Leonard, AirTran Airways’ chairman and chief
executive officer.
“We are pleased to be able to assist AirTran Airways’ transition at
Chicago Midway as it expands into the Midwest. We view this expansion as a
further step to profitable growth that benefits everyone at AirTran
Airways, including the pilots we represent,” said Allen Philpot, president
of the National Pilots Association.
