Sol Melia Scores Twice with AAA Four Diamond

Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts’ Paradisus Riviera Cancun and Hard Rock Hotel Chicago will be awarded the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Rating for 2005 announced Andre Gerondeau, Executive Vice President Central-North America for Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts. The Paradisus Riviera Cancun is now one of only three all-Inclusive Four Diamond rated properties in all of Mexico and the largest all-inclusive property to receive the honor.

“We are extremely proud to receive this most prestigious award,” said Mr. Gerondeau. “Having the AAA Four Diamond further solidifies our position as not only the biggest resorts hotel chain in the world, but one of the best as well. Both properties know the language of quality as they consistently deliver premier experiences, complete with superior personal service, first-class amenities and impressive surroundings.”

The Paradisus Riviera Cancun and Hard Rock Hotel Chicago join a select group of AAA Four Diamond winners. Only 3.25 percent of the estimated 31,000 AAA Rated(R) lodgings are awarded the AAA Four Diamond designation each year.

The Hard Rock Hotel Chicago, located in the historic Carbon & Carbide Building, received the award after being open less than a year. Located in downtown Chicago and just minutes from the Magnificent Mile, museums, Millennium Park and more, the hotel has been part of a growth that has given downtown Chicago a boost in business.

The Hard Rock Hotel boasts private access suites and 381 guest rooms and features the 3,000-square-foot Fender ballroom with a view of North Michigan Avenue available for large and small parties. With 9,500-square-feet of function space and 11 meeting rooms there are facilities available for groups seeking an intimate setting for 20 or large soirees for 320.

Each meeting room is equipped with phone and fax lines, high-speed WI-FI Internet access, video conferencing capabilities, catering service and ergonomic furniture.

The Paradisus Riviera Cancun has received a bevy of recognitions this year, including the inclusion of the Paradisus Royal Suites into The Leading Hotels of the World portfolio. The resort recreates a Mayan Village ambience with its narrow paths, 500 Suites, 100 Royal Service Suites and 96 Ocean View Suites. It stretches between a lush tropical mangrove preserve, on a 5,000 foot long Caribbean beach, protected by the second largest coral reef formation in the world.

The AAA Four Diamond symbolizes that an establishment has measured up to AAA’s uncompromising standards of excellence during a comprehensive evaluation by one of AAA’s inspectors. Extraordinary services, quality amenities and superior surroundings are among the benchmarks.
