USVI semi-annual charteryacht show set for autumn

Commissioner of
Tourism Pamela C. Richards has announced that luxury yachts from around the
Caribbean will arrive on St. Thomas for the 30th Annual Virgin Islands
Charteryacht League (VICL) Fall Charteryacht Show, November 4-6.  The event,
held at St. Thomas’ Crown Bay Marina, familiarizes established brokers,
travel agents and other professionals who wish to become charteryacht
brokers with USVI-based yachts and their crews so they may effectively sell
charteryacht vacations.  Participants will engage in three days of shows and
other exciting activities, as they get to know the crews and amenities of
each charter boat.
“Charteryachts offer a unique, personalized and all-inclusive vacation
option for visitors to the United States Virgin Islands,” Richards said.  “A
charteryacht vacation is a unique way to experience our islands, and I hope
that participating travel agents will learn more about booking these
incredible vacations for their clients.”
VICL offers a “New Broker Seminar,” scheduled for Wednesday, November 3,
that will teach prospective brokers about this unique industry.  The
four-hour workshop is mandatory for all brokers who have not attended a
previous St. Thomas show.  Upon completion of the program and attendance at
the show, participating travel agents will be recognized as brokers and
eligible to book charters directly through the clearinghouses, which host
the boats’ calendars.

Several of the participating yachts will be providing familiarization trips
for brokers.  Participating yachts include:  Antillean, Billy Jean, Blu
Moon, Canim, Carabella, Casador, Catamar, Catnap, Dream, Fortuna of Leith,
Flamboyance, Island Skipper, La Dolce Vita, Lady Jane, Paradiso, Qwest,
Runaway, Sandcastle, Sea Chateau, Sea Nymph, SeaPrize, Southwind, Three
Moons and Ursa Minor.

Brokers are encouraged to make their reservations
early for the FAM trips as they are expected to fill-up quickly.
Activities scheduled around the yacht shows include:  a Welcome (Beach)
Party on November 3; Cocktails Under the Stars on November 4; a Celebrity
Poker for Charity Tournament on November 5; and an International Flair
Farewell Party on November 6.
