US Airways Supports Literacy in Philadelphia

US Airways and Weekly Reader
Corporation have joined hands to help encourage family literacy while
providing limited-time access to quality books at a special low price.  For
each set of books sold, $3 will be donated to PHILADELPHIA READS, an
organization that works with individuals, schools, community and faith-based
organizations and businesses to provide mentors, resources and advocacy for
in-school, after school and summer programs.“The silence found on an air journey is an optimal time for a child to
concentrate on reading without interruption,” reminds Thomas Jacoby, executive
director of PHILADELPHIA READS.  “We are pleased to recommend this wonderful
library to children as they embark on their journey and know that the books
will keep them engrossed throughout.  PHILADELPHIA READS is excited to promote
the fun of children’s literacy through this partnership with Weekly Reader and
US Airways.”
“We are delighted to support PHILADELPHIA READS through this collaboration
with Weekly Reader, building on our long history of support of city programs
with the next generation of Philadelphians,” said Deborah Thompson, US Airways
managing director of corporate and consumer affairs.  “There is no greater
investment that we can make than in their education.”
Weekly Reader has developed an eight-volume set of classic, hardcover
