China Southern Takes Delivery Of New Airbus

China Southern Airlines the largest airline in The People’s Republic of China has today taken delivery of a new Airbus A320 aircraft—the first of four to be delivered this year.

“As we continue to upgrade and modernize our fleet, these brand-new Airbus aircraft will find a welcome home at the new Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou,” said Mr. Yuan Xin’an, Vice President of China Southern Airlines. All four aircraft are leased from the CIT Aerospace, a capital finance company based in London. China Southern Airlines continues to be one of the largest operators of A320 aircraft in China with more than a dozen in daily passenger operation.

Widely accepted as the industry standard, the best-selling Airbus A320 Family comprises a variety of seating configurations that allow for a customized layout depending on the airliner’s needs. All of them share the same airframe—only the fuselage lengths are different—and the same cockpits, systems and engines, delivering unmatched operational commonality.

Airbus is a leading aircraft manufacturer with the most modern and comprehensive family of airliners on the market. They range in capacity from 100 to more than 500 seats and incorporate the latest state-of-the-art technologies. Airbus has delivered more than 3,500 aircraft to some 260 customers and operators worldwide, and boasts a healthy delivery backlog of some 1,400 aircraft, which, at current rates, represents close to five years of production. With an annual turnover of EUR 19.2 billion in 2003, Airbus is a global company with design and manufacturing facilities in France, Germany, the UK and Spain, as well as subsidiaries in the US, China and Japan. Headquartered in Toulouse, France, Airbus is an EADS joint Company with BAE Systems.
