Caribbean Star resumes service

Caribbean Star Airlines announced this morning that it will resume its operations today to Barbados, Dominica, St. Lucia, Port of Spain and St Vincent. Flights to these destinations were cancelled over the last 48 hours due to weather conditions related to Hurricane Ivan.Acting Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Edward Gilkes said, “Caribbean Star Airlines extends condolences to those who have lost family or friends to Hurricane Ivan. We are aware that there has been severe damage to Grenada and St Vincent and Tobago to a lesser extent. The airline is at present assessing the situation to determine how it can be of help to these islands”.Ê

Mr. Gilkes went on to add that Caribbean Star is currently seeking permission from the Grenada Airport Authority to send a special relief flight from Antigua to Grenada at 2.00 p.m. today. The flight will accommodate staff of Caribbean Star and the Stanford Group of Companies with family in Grenada, members of the Antigua Defence Force, Red Cross personnel and supplies, and relief items donated by the Stanford Group of Companies.

Passengers booked to travel on Caribbean Star Airlines are asked to contact the airline’s office to reconfirm their flights.
