W Hotels Expands into Hong Kong in 2008

W has announced it will open its first designer hotel in Hong Kong in early 2008. The W Hong Kong, situated in a prime location on Kowloon’s waterfront, will have 383 luxury rooms and extensive meeting facilities.
The W Hong Kong will be developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties and W’s parent company, Starwood Hotels, who have chosen New York-based architects, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, to design it. Located right next to Hong Kong’s future Cultural and Entertainment District on the West Kowloon Waterfront, the hotel will feature a stunning roof top bar, major spa, destination health club, indoor and outdoor pools and the W Retail store.

When completed in 2010, the new Cultural and Entertainment District will offer offices, high-end retail spaces, art museums, theatres, man-made gardens and lagoons, a yacht anchorage and various restaurants and cafés.

W is the world’s fastest growing collection of world-class design hotels, having announced six new projects this year alone, including new hotels in Barcelona, Spain; Scottsdale, Arizona; Hoboken, New Jersey and the Maldives. The company also plans to develop a W Hotel in Shanghai.
