SkyScanner.net Reports 50% Increase in New Users
Whilst many online travel services have recently announced major losses for the last 12 months, SkyScannner.net has seen a 50% increase in new users over the last six months and seen record profits.SkyScanner.net now attracts over 280,000 unique users every month, all eager to save time and money by searching prices, times and availability on budget flights across Europe. SkyScanner is still the quickest and most comprehensive budget travel search engine currently available for obtaining live flight prices and confirmation of availability across Europe’s extensive range of budget airlines. Before the end of year, the eagerly anticipated version three of the service will also display details for all scheduled airline services across Europe.
Barry Smith, Director and co-founder of SkyScanner.net, believes much of the company’s success is down to the fact it provides independent information that assists users in achieving ‘perfect knowledge’. “Whilst many flight comparison services claim to offer a comprehensive view of what is available, in actual fact they often only provide information for those companies with which they have a commercial agreement i.e. those that provide payment in exchange for a ‘click through’ or sales.”
Skyscanner.net operates a comprehensive and independent online search of budget airlines, and works in much the same way as the major search engines. It leads users through the search process with four simple functions: The ‘Day View’ highlights the cheapest flights for any given destination on a particular day, whilst the unique ‘Month View’ provides the flexible traveller with the two cheapest flights for each day of the month - displayed within a simple bar graph, meaning you can instantly see the best day and time to make your trip without having to enter your details time and time again.
Last minute weekend bargains can be found by clicking on ‘Weekend View’, where the best deals for every weekend over the next six months are displayed. The improved ‘Map View’ allows you to pin point all cities that you can fly to, from your selected departure airport as well as displaying the cheapest flights on any given day.
Barry Smith adds: “We are extremely pleased to have seen the dramatic increase in users of the site over the last year and are anticipating a further major increase when version three of the site is launched. We are also about to go live in the US with a BETA version of the site and will be introducing a multi-language version of the European service. Add this to the fact we are about to move into our new offices, will mean we have a busy few months ahead, but the team are all very excited about what is in the pipeline and where the company is heading.”

“We remain convinced that what internet users want is a one-stop service, that allows them to make their own decisions based on clear, comprehensive and correct information - the technology used by SkyScanner.net ensures our users know they won’t find better deals quicker, anywhere else on the web.”
