SAA Comment on Future

  In response to recent media speculation both SAA and Mr. Andre Viljoen have confirmed that they have separated on an amicable basis.The acting Chair of the board, Ms. Tshidi Mokgabudi, said that Mr. Andre Viljoen has agreed to do a proper handover to Mr. Oyama Mabandla, Deputy Chief Executive, who will act as Chief Executive from 1 September 2004. “We thank him for his leadership in building SAA and wish him well in his future endeavors.” Said Mokgabudi.
Commenting, Andre Viljoen, President and CEO of SAA said: “I would like to pay tribute to SAA’s 11 000 employees and thank them for their support and tireless efforts during my tenure at the company. They have delivered a major turn around in service standards and can look forward to building on recent operational successes as a full member of the Star Alliance, the world’s largest and most successful alliance network.”
Andre Viljoen confirmed that he is currently considering a number of future options but would be focusing his full attention on a smooth hand over at the airline over the next two months.
