Carlisle Bay Antigua plays its ace

Did Wimbledon stir your inner tennis star? If it did then perhaps a summer holiday on Antigua could be for you? The Caribbean island is gaining a reputation as one of the best destinations for tennis in the Caribbean, with a wide range of facilities and events to suit all ages and abilities.
A growing number of hotels and resorts are equipped to cater for everyone from tennis enthusiasts to those who have never played the game before.

Many guests are discovering that this beautiful island is the perfect place to combine a breathtaking holiday with the chance to brush up on their skills.

One, for example, being the fashionable Carlisle Bay which has a specially designed Tennis Club managed by Peter Burwash International, the world’s largest and most exclusive network of tennis professionals.

The hotel features eight hard courts and one artificial court, two of which are lit for night play. A complimentary ‘Never touched a racket before’ clinic is available on a weekly basis for guests as well as a Round Robin Doubles competition each Saturday.

Children can take part in one of two tennis clinics a week, catering for 5-8 year olds and 9-12 year olds. Both last an hour and cost US$20 per person. Racket, shoe hire and the use of the ball machine are complimentary for all guests and a fully equipped Pro shop is on site. Private lessons are also available on a regular basis.
