Little Dix Bay goes wireless.

With a system designed and deployed by Premierdatacom using ZyXEL Communications equipment, guests of the legendary and luxurious Caribbean retreat Little Dix Bay, A Rosewood Resort, are now able to enjoy wireless Internet access. The resort, named one of Travel + Leisure’s Greatest Hotels in the World, is one of only a few hotels to offer this state-of-the-art technology.

ZyXEL Communications Inc. is a leading provider of broadband access solutions and is featured this week at the HITEC 2004 conference, showcasing the latest technology products and services geared to the hospitality industry.

ZyXEL’s industry-leading ZyAIR B-3000 Intelligent Wireless LAN Access Point, which functions as a wireless AP, bridge and repeater, as well as the ZyAIR B-400 Wireless Ethernet Adapter, are key components of the Premierdatacom Instaconnect!(SM) network deployed at the Little Dix Bay Resort on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands.

The unique network serves a total area of roughly two square miles, spanning over a mile of shoreline around the bay, forty buildings in the resort, and the entire Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor in nearby Spanish Town.

Twenty ZyAIR B-3000 access points provide a high speed wireless network for Internet and voice traffic at the resort and at the yacht harbor. ZyXEL’s ZyAIR B-400s are used to provide Ethernet access in guestrooms for computers without wireless interfaces.

“We chose the ZyAIR B-3000 for a variety of reasons, chief among them was its ability to simultaneously function as an access point and as a bridge. This allowed us to provide full property coverage in a very challenging physical environment by locating access points in places not easily served by wired connections,” said Hunter Deane, president of Premierdatacom.
