Japan Airlines Applies for 5% Fare Increase
Japan Airlines today filed an application with the Japanese Ministry of land, Infrastructure and Transportation for approval to raise international fares by five percent on routes to and from Japan effective July 1st. The application follows a special meeting of the members of the International Air Transport Association in Geneva, May 28, when a resolution was discussed to raise fares in the wake of increased fuel prices. This resolution has now been adopted.
Exceptions to the general increase are Y2 (economy class) fares out of Japan to the USA, Canada, Guam and Saipan. These fares are unchanged. Economy (Y2) fares to Japan from the USA, Guam and Saipan are also unchanged.
Special fares, such as excursion fares, are increased by the equivalent of five percent.
