America West Initiates New Nonstop Service

America West , the nation’s
second largest low-fare airline, initiated daily nonstop service between
its Las Vegas hub and four new destinations today. The new cities are:
Fresno and San Luis Obispo, Calif.; Medford, Ore.; and Calgary, Alberta.
Also on June 1, a second nonstop flight will be added between Las Vegas
and Santa Barbara, Calif.
Now customers in these cities who have enjoyed the airline’s business-
friendly fares on flights to the airline’s Phoenix hub, can enjoy those
same benefits with service to one of the nation’s most popular
destinations, which also serves as a hub for connecting customers.
Customers can also take advantage of the convenience and value offered by
America West Vacations to book their air, hotel, airport transfers and
even purchase tickets to select events in Las Vegas. With more than 30
hotel partners, America West Vacations offers a wide variety of package
options for budget conscious customers to those wanting a luxury vacation.

“As Las Vegas’s hometown airline, America West should be the first name
that comes to mind for customers who want to visit America’s playground,”
said Dion Flannery, vice president, scheduling, route planning and
Internet distribution. “We’re proud to be the premier low-cost airline
delivering convenient nonstop flights to and from these communities so
travelers will no longer have to endure paying high fares for inconvenient
connecting flights.”

With these new flights, America West will offer 117 average daily
departures from its Las Vegas hub to 52 nonstop destinations; that’s more
nonstop destinations than any other carrier in Las Vegas. The new flights
will be provided by America West Express, which is operated by subsidiary
airlines of Mesa Air Group, utilizing Canadair Regional Jet aircraft.
