Mandarin Oriental Announce Senior Management Appointment

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointment of a number of senior management executives at the luxury hotel group’s properties in Singapore, Chiang Mai, Hong Kong and Jakarta.

Mr Rajesh Jhingon joins The Oriental Singapore as General Manager from the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Maldives, which in 2002 received the Best Hotel Resort and Asia Pacific’s Leading Spa Resort awards from Harpers and Queen and World Travel Agents respectively.  Prior to his appointment at Taj Exotica, he was General Manager of Amarvilas, Agra in India and he also held various senior managerial positions with The Oberoi Group in both New Delhi and Bombay.

Mr Patrick-Denis Finet has been appointed General Manager of the Group’s new luxurious hideaway in the historical and cultural heart of Northern Thailand - Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai - due to open late 2004.

Finet brings more than 28 years of experience to the position, having held a number of senior management positions in Europe, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.

Most recently, Finet was General Manager of the Khalifa Group and prior to that, he was general manager of Le Prince Maurice Hotel in Mauritius for five years.

Mandarin Oriental has also announced the promotion of Mr. Andrew Abram to General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta. Abram was formerly Hotel Manager of another group property, The Excelsior, Hong Kong.


Replacing Abram as Hotel Manager at The Excelsior, Hong Kong is Mr. Gerd Knaust who was formerly General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Hotel Majapahit, Surabaya.

Prior to his tenure in Surabaya, Knaust was Director of Food and Beverage / Kitchen Operations at The Oriental, Singapore and before that, was Executive Chef of the same hotel.

Knaust has more than 20 years experience in kitchen operations and management in Germany, Malaysia and China.
