Al-Noor Ramji to drive BT’s IT transformation

today announced the appointment of Al-Noor Ramji as chief information officer of BT Group and chief executive officer of BT Exact.
He will be in charge of developing and delivering a unified strategy leveraging BT’s information technology resources to maximise support for the company’s growth and transformation plans. He will report to Andy Green, executive director in charge of BT’s internal information systems (IS) strategy and operations and chief executive officer of BT Global Services.

Al-Noor Ramji joins BT on May 4 from Qwest Communications where he held the position of executive vice president, chief information officer and chief e-commerce officer. He has led the company’s web, IT and internal network functions, as well as its business and billing operations, delivering revenue growth, world class systems and cost reductions. Before joining Qwest in 2001, Al-Noor Ramji was one of the most recognised IT figures in the City of London, where he was global chief information officer at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, after holding a number of senior IT and business positions in Swiss Bank Corporation and Credit Suisse First Boston. He was also founder and group chief executive officer of Webtek Software, a successful software house based in India.Ê
