Ron Paynter to Manage Marriott Resort Hotel

Marriott’s first resort hotel in Texas, the Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott Hotel and Conference Center - slated to open in October, 2004 in the famed Texas Hill Country near Austin - has named long-time Marriott veteran Ron Paynter general manager.Ê
Mr. Paynter, who joined Marriott International, Inc. in 1970 and who is on the Board of the Texas Society of Association Executives (TSAE), has served as general manager of two Austin Marriott hotels during the past 24 years and is deeply involved in several Austin-area business and civic organizations.ÊÊ

“I am looking forward to establishing Marriott’s first resort in Texas and to being part of an amazing resort and community in Horseshoe Bay,” said Mr. Paynter.


The new hotel this week also launched its “Texas-Sized” Complete Meeting Package group booking incentive, through which meeting planners who book 100 rooms or more by Oct. 2, 2004, and whose meetings commence by July 31, 2006, will receive their choice of a Platinum Status upgrade or 30,000 Marriott Rewards? points, additional complimentary suite upgrades, 12 percent off Complete Meeting Packages, 10 percent off Destination Austin events, and a choice of either two rounds of championship golf or two spa treatments.


According to Joe Reardon, director of marketing, the new hotel has already begun booking many multi-year meetings for Texas state associations, corporations and law firms that are taking advantage of the “Texas-Sized” Complete Meeting Packages or golf, tennis and spa packages. Mr. Reardon added that Horseshoe Bay Resort recently received a Silver Medal Resort Award from Golf Magazine.ÊÊ He added, “You have to see the resort’s three championship courses, along with the 18-hole putting course - a par 72 with waterfalls - to believe them.Ê Horseshoe Bay Resort definitely offers an experience that golfers will never forget.”

Located in the 6,500-acre Horseshoe Bay Resort on the shores of Lake LBJ, the 349-room Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott will include 105 suites and, all on one floor, more than 22,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting space, including a 12,000-square-foot ballroom.Ê An additional 4,000 square feet of meeting space is available upon request through Horseshoe Bay Resort.Ê Many of the unique pre-function meeting spaces will feature lake and Hill Country views.
