Rolex Regatta heading for St. Thomas

St. Thomas will host the 31st Annual International Rolex Regatta, March 26-28,  a three-day regatta that promises a weekend of fierce competition and fun.
“The United States Virgin Islands are perfect for sailing,” Commissioner Richardssaid. “We eagerly look forward to the tradition and excitement of the International Rolex Regatta every year.”

The International Rolex Regatta will bring back Peter “Luigi” Reggio, of
Essex, Conn.,  to run the races as the principal race officer. Reggio has
received accolades for his participation in races such as The Challenger
Series and the America’s Cup. Arthur “Tuna” Wullschleger of Fort
Lauderdale, Fla., also will return as chief judge of the regatta.

Wullschleger has presided over the regatta for more than two decades and is known as one of the international sailing circuit’s top judges.  Sailing veterans such as Peter Holmberg, the St. Thomas Yacht Club’s new Commodore, plan to sail during the event, and several newcomers to the sport will test the USVI waters.
